It has been lamented that people assume only women in rural areas are ignorant of menstrual hygiene management.
This assertion was made by the CEO of Period Reality, Marlou Cornelissen, while giving an overview of the male and female cycle during a sensitization event on menstrual hygiene management for secondary school girls and female corps members in Bauchi State.
Marlou Cornelissen, who joined the meeting virtually, said, “We discovered that even urban dwellers have the same problem. Therefore, there is a need to open discussions on the issue.”

“So, the Kairos Initiative, together with Alwadata Lifeline Initiative and Period Reality, took up the initiative to sensitize urban girls and women on menstrual hygiene management at the American Space in Bauchi,” she added.
The event was the kickoff of the campaign, which fortunately coincided with the International Day for Menstrual Hygiene Materials.
Various CSOs in Bauchi, such as ASHH Foundation, CARD, and CiG Foundation, are part of the sensitization, which was the first of several urban area sensitizations.
