A man, Nosa, has requested an order restraining a woman, Ngozi, from threatening and fighting him in his house and office.

Nosa stated that although Ngozi was the mother of his two children, but that they were never married.

According to him, he and Ngozi met, dated, and he later impregnated her.

The plaintiff said he never met with the defendant’s family nor paid bride price, but that he rented an apartment and was committed to paying the rent.

He added that he ensured that her flat was well furnished and quite comfortable to live in since she had their children with her.

The plaintiff explained that what he got in return for all he did was distress and pain.

Nosa stated that Ngozi constituted herself a nuisance and always came to his house and office to threaten and fight him, thus humiliating him.

He made mention of an instance that’s was fresh.

Nosa said Ngozi came to his house around midnight and banged the gate with a stone, thus waking up the neighbourhood.

He added that he lost most of his customers and money running into millions of naira as a result of her irrational behaviour.

The plaintiff begged for custody of their children, whom he stated were presently staying with him, in order that he could give them proper training.

Ngozi denied all the allegations brought against her.

Nosa, giving his testimony, said, “The only thing binding me to Ngozi is our children.

“We never got married, neither are we bound by any marital rite.

“I never met with her parents, and I did not pay her bride.

“I went out of my way to see to it that she and our children were comfortable.

“I rented a decent apartment for her and have never defaulted in the payment of rent.

“Her flat is furnished to taste and is a cozy place to live in.

“Despite all my efforts at bringing ease and comfort to her, all she does is to threaten and fight me.

“Ngozi embarasses me almost on a daily basis.

“If she did not come to my house to shout and disturb the neighbourhood, she would come to my office and turn the place upside down.

“She came of recent to my house at around 12:00 a.m, and banged the gate with a stone.

“She woke everybody up and disrupted the peace of neighbourhood.

“I have never felt so embarrassed in my whole life.

“My business has nose-dived because Ngozi sent my customers packing as a result of her uncultured behaviour.

“I have lost a fortune, that is millions of naira in the business, and I am now struggling to stabilise again.

“My lord, I have had enough of Ngozi’s atrocities.

“I pray for an order restraining her from threatening, fighting, and interfering with my private life.

“I also pray for custody of our children. They are at the moment with me and it is obvious they need proper training. “

The court president, Mrs S.M, Akintayo, adjourned the case for further hearing.
