The Executive Director of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI) in Zamfara state Musa Umar has explained why they organised dialogue with community leaders and security agents, saying the aim is to promote, peace, accountability, and stability.
The dialogue took place at Birnin Magaji, Nasarawa Godel, Tsafe, and Bilbis communities with participants from security agencies, community, and religious leaders, Civil Society Organizations, and Community-Based Organizations among others in the state.
The event was conducted with the support of International NGO, “The International Alert” under the project “Promoting Stability, Access to Justice and Accountability in the North West Region of the country”.
The project is being implemented in two states i.e. Kaduna and Zamfara.
The activity: “Community Engagement with Security Agencies on Security Priorities Issues and Building Partnership to Ensure Effective Oversight and Accountability”.
Earlier, the Executive Director, VAI Musa Umar said the dialogue is part of the activity towards promoting stability, access to justice, and accountability in Zamfara communities.
“This activity aimed at engaging major stakeholders such as traditional, religious leaders, security agencies, community leaders, marginalized groups, Persons with Disability as well as government officials on how to promote access to justice.
“We find it necessary to organize this dialogue with community members and security agents to discuss modalities of promoting peace, stability access to justice in the society.”
