The Boys Association of Government Secondary School Kontagora (GOSSKOBA), Class of 1984, has called on the Niger State government to ensure the continuous maintenance of facilities and schools, and to increase funding for schools across the state.
The Chairman of the Occasion, who is also a former Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance, Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed, made this call at the 40th anniversary celebration of the Class of 1984, held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Conference Hall in Minna, Niger State, over the weekend.
He also urged the state government to ensure that facilities, including those at GOSSKO, are kept in good condition.
Ahmed commended the Class of ’84 for their ongoing commitment to improving the infrastructure at GOSSKO.
In his welcome address, Professor Idris Abdullahi, Chairman of GOSSKOBA Class of ’84, stated that the event was held to honor the seniors who have impacted the school since graduation.

He also mentioned that the event aimed to unveil and launch the compendium and tributes, as well as to hold the 11th consecutive annual general meeting of the old students’ association.
Abdullahi praised the members of the association for their contributions, noting that 85 percent of the infrastructural development at the institution was funded by the alumni. He revealed that part of the school’s perimeter, which borders Kontagora and Sokoto State, was left unsecured, making it vulnerable to trespassers and unwanted elements.
He called on the state government and well-meaning individuals to support the school by providing facilities, learning materials, and scholarships for indigent students.
In a goodwill message, Malam Bala Jido, National President of GOSSKOBA and a retired Permanent Secretary in the Niger State civil service, commended the Class of ’84 for their foresight in bringing together members to foster unity and oneness.
He urged other sets of the school to emulate the Class of ’84 by undertaking selfless programs for the overall growth and development of the school.
