A real estate firm, Profilled Properties, has called on Nigerian youths to take advantage of the job opportunities in the housing sector for wealth creation.
Speaking at the weekend in Abuja, the chairman of the firm, Dr Promise Egwim, said, “You know, people claim there are no jobs in Nigeria, but I believe that you can actually get something done, no matter how small, and real estate is a beautiful platform to start.
“We, as you can see, have so many staff. Let me tell you, we have over 1000 people working on various sites. The bricklayers, the carpenters, and the plumbers all have jobs to do.
“If you sell cement, we will buy from you. Yes, we are encouraging your business. So I believe there’s so much that the government can do to support the industry for economic growth.
“You know, there is so much employment for youths through us alone; we have over 250 direct and indirect staff. So imagine having these jobs at many other real estate firms. Imagine what will happen; imagine the ripple effects on employment in the country,” he stated.
He urged youths in Nigeria to explore the opportunities within the housing sector to meaningfully engage without waiting endlessly for the government to create jobs.
Egwim called on Nigerians to invest in the real estate business, stating that the return on investment in the sector is huge.
“We have a property in Lugbe; when we started selling, a plot was going for just one million naira, but six months later, the same size of plot is going for over N4 million. You can only get that kind of return in a property business,” he reaffirmed.
The chairman therefore encouraged Nigerians to invest in property businesses. “For us, we believe that beyond business, we want to see people own their own property.
“We try to pass this information to people. You know, a lot of people retire from active service without owning a property. So we try to sensitise them, letting them know that this is the time to invest and own a house,” he said.
Egwim stated that one can own a property starting with as little as N200,000, adding that the firm supports platforms where Properties are paid over a period of time.
