…..Coalition of Southern and Northern Union Groups (COSNUG) Urges Dialogue Over Demonstrations Against President Tinubu’s Administration.

The Coalition of Southern and Northern Union Groups (COSNUG) has called for restraint, urging Nigerians to avoid demonstrations against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a statement released on Thursday, the group’s National Coordinator, Hon. Emeka Uzoka, emphasized the importance of dialogue and constructive criticism in fostering better governance.

“Demonstration is the essence of democracy,” the statement read, “but we must often embrace dialogue and criticism with solutions for better governance.”

COSNUG’s appeal comes amidst rising political tensions and public dissatisfaction over various national issues. The coalition stressed that while the right to protest is fundamental in a democratic society, it is crucial to prioritize conversations that lead to actionable solutions.

“There’s nothing wrong with protesting, which is one of the gains of democracy, but it’s concerning when protests are hijacked to destroy vital infrastructure in order to prove a point. Most of the structural reforms of President Tinubu’s administration will reposition Nigeria among the committee of nations but will require citizens’ sacrifice,” the statement continued.

“We believe in the power of dialogue and constructive criticism,” said Hon. Emeka Uzoka. “Our focus should be on finding common ground and working together towards the progress of our nation.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has been praised by COSNUG for its efforts in addressing the nation’s challenges through inclusive policies and initiatives aimed at promoting unity and development. The group acknowledged the president’s commitment to transparency and accountability, which they believe is essential for Nigeria’s growth.

COSNUG highlighted the need for a unified approach in addressing the country’s challenges and urged citizens to engage in meaningful discussions that contribute to national development.

As Nigeria continues to navigate its political landscape, COSNUG’s call for dialogue and criticism with solutions aims to promote a more collaborative and peaceful approach to governance. Their support for President Tinubu underscores their belief in his leadership and vision for a prosperous Nigeria.
