Residents of Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State have expressed delight over the inauguration of people-oriented projects across the council area.
The projects, comprising 12 units of lock-up shops at Dangote-Ibese market, Ibese, a borehole with a Gasoline Generator at Iyana-Meta and a block of two classrooms at Moro, both in Ohunbe ward.
Others are a block of two classrooms at Moro and Oke-Odo, Tobolo, Ijoun ward, repair and energising of 300KVA transformer at Eggua, purchase and supply of medical equipment and building of primary healthcare centre at Imoto-Yewa, 14 units of lock-up shops at Oja-Odan, Ebutte ward, grading of rural roads across Sunwa, Ayetoro ward 1 and 2.
In their separate remarks, the Oloja of Oja-Odan, Oba Adetunji Oyebanji, chairman of Eggua Central Community Development Committee, Elder Samson Falade, and Commissioner three, Ogun State Civil Service Commission, Mr Gabriel Falola, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his support in the execution of projects across local government areas.
A release signed by the council’s Zonal Information Officer, Mr Lateef Akintunde, the people lauded the efforts of the local government chairman, Gabriel Ogunyomi for complementing state government’s developmental agenda at the grassroots, noted that the projects had created job opportunities for local artisans.
Speaking, the duo of Iyaloja and Babaloja of Oja-Odan, Mrs Birikisu Adebayo and Fatai Salami respectively commended the present administration for providing open and lock-up shops at their markets, promising to reciprocate the gesture with prompt payment of taxes and other levies in order to boost internally generated revenues (IGR) of the government
Cross section of residents, Otun-baale of Moro, Chief Izik Babalola; chairman, Community Development Association, Iyana-Meta, Mr Amos Olaotan and community leader, Joga-Orile, Alhaji Akeem Bankole, described the projects as worthwhile, adding provision of social amenities will improve standard of living of rural dwellers.
