Alabi Yetunde, popularly known as Ashabi, a Nollywood movie producer, has reiterated her dedication to elevating Yoruba culture and language with captivating films. A producer with a deep passion for storytelling who is dedicated to preserving cultural heritage, Ashabi has emerged as a leading voice in the industry. Over the years, she has brought to life a diverse slate of acclaimed films that have not only captivated audiences worldwide, but also served as a powerful platform for showcasing the richness and beauty of the Yoruba language and culture.

Born in Plateau State, Jos precisely and raised in Ibadan, Ashabi embarked on a journey to establish herself as a force to be reckoned with in the film industry. After her first degree, she produced her first major full length movie, the critically acclaimed Yoruba-language drama ‘Abaadi’ in 2020 under the production house, LibraTV which earned multiple award nominations and firmly cemented her reputation as a rising star. The story was about a young lady, Ashabi herself, with a very odd gift which was a blessing and a curse when it caused a fight between herself and her best friend, showcasing her commitment to preserving Yoruba culture and language through meaningful and impactful storytelling.

Building on this success, Ashabi  went on to produce the Yoruba-language thriller, Atona, another LibraTV original, starring Adedimeji Lateef, Bukunmi Oluwashina, Ayo Mogaji and many more actors, which showcased her ability to carve a niche for herself. The film was praised for its relatability and direction, intelligent exploration of complex moral dilemmas and its unwavering dedication to showcasing the richness of the Yoruba language.

Most recently, Ashabi has brought her unique vision to the production of the highly anticipated Yoruba-language drama, set to drop on August 8. The story proves that true love can withstand any test and also that love truly never dies. It features actors like Gabriel Afolayan, Wumi Toriola, Deborah Shokoya, Ayo Olaiya, Habeeb Alagbe, among others, under the direction of Muyideen Oladapo (Lala).

According to Ashabi, it promises to be a powerful cinematic experience, as her artistry further solidifies her as as a leading advocate for the preservation of Yoruba culture and language through the medium of film. Beyond her work as a producer, Ashabi is also actively involved in various other movie production as a cast

With ‘Itase’ on the horizon, Ashabi says she intends to push the boundaries of cinematic storytelling and captivating her audience. She remains dedicated to exploring the human experience through the powerful medium of film, while simultaneously preserving the unique cultural heritage of the Yoruba people for generations to come.
