A group of youths in Benue State known as ‘Forum of Local Government Unit Presidents, Tiv Youth Organization (TYO) has berated the Benue National Assembly caucus and Federal Appointees Forum for arrogating to itself peace prevailing in the state.
The latter group, Benue National Assembly caucus and Federal Appointees Forum had last week claimed to have provided directions and support for youths in the state, hence, their non-participation in the end bad governance protest.
But the spokesman of the youth group, Comrade Vincent Kaior accused the state national assembly caucus and federal appointees for reaping where they did not sow.
Kaior said that youths in the state decided to shun the protest in solidarity with the laudable feasts achieved by the state governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.
He said, “These include massive political appointments/employment given to youth, construction of township roads, procurement of vehicles for security operatives, installation of street lights which has given Makurdi, the state capital a facelift.

Last week, the Benue National Assembly caucus and Federal Appointees Forum claimed to have provided guidance and support to the youths in the state, which they said is why the youths did not participate in the protest against bad governance.
However, the spokesperson for the youth group, Comrade Vincent Kaior, accused the state’s national assembly caucus and federal appointees of taking credit for things they didn’t do.
Kaior mentioned that the youth in the state decided not to join the protest in support of the admirable achievements of the state governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia. These achievements include significant political appointments and employment opportunities for the youth, the construction of township roads, procurement of vehicles for security operatives, and the installation of street lights, which has improved the appearance of Makurdi, the state capital.
“These and many more convinced us of direction, leadership and support”.
The youth group stated that while preparation for the nationwide protest was in top gear, no member of the national assembly caucus and federal appointees came to their respective home to address us the youths and to shun the protest.
“If anything, it was the State Governor, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia who was dutifully up and doing, putting in great effort which informed our decision to choose peace over protest.
