Muhammadu Sanusi II has lamented the huge destruction done to the oldest printing press in the ancient city, describing it as a wicked attempt to wipe out the monumental edifice.

He disclosed that “this printing press was built in 1933. Even my great-grandfather worked here, and my grandfather was the last person to leave the place when Emir Sanusi left Kano, so he also quit his job and followed him.”

Sanusi also expressed his dismay over the wanton destruction of the gigantic Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) building, where all the modern equipment was not carried away but the entire building was completely vandalised.

He made this known on Wednesday when he was inspecting the damage done to the printing press as well as the NCC Industrial Digital Park during the #BadGovernment protests.

He expressed his worry that “security was alerted to the intelligence reports that the office would be attacked.”

Emir Sanusi added, “It is surprising that four days before the attacks, security was alerted, and up until the time the place was attacked, nothing was done by the security. This calls for a real investigation into what happened.”

He hinted that “it is clear that some people are hellbent on destroying Kano, and God knows them, and sooner than later, they will be exposed and will fully fail.”

“It is also clear that the youths who participated in the nefarious actions were recruited by the enemies of the state to act against the interests of the city. We pray that God guides them to the right path,” he added.

While speaking at the NCC Industrial Digital Park, Emir Sanusi urged Kano youths to open their hearts to know who really loves them and who their enemies are. The place was created to train about 3 million youths to gain ICT jobs.

He disclosed that “all those who gave you money to act negatively against the state, their children are studying outside the country, and the place was supposed to have been commissioned today, Wednesday, but it was destroyed.”

“We are highly touched by what has happened to the NCC, but we are assured that the Federal Government will soon rebuild the place. However, we urge Kano youths to shun every negative tendency that was targeted at them.”

Speaking at the NCC park, the State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mohammed Tajo Othman, explained that the Minister of Science and Technology has promised him that very soon the park will be rebuilt.
