No fewer than 26,000 farmers received three bags of fertiliser, improved seeds, herbicides, and insecticides each free of charge under NG-CARES Results Area II through the FADAMA office in Jigawa State.
This was disclosed by the Jigawa State FADAMA CARES Coordinator, Malam Aliyu Inuwa, who spoke to newsmen shortly after the disbursement of the commodities in Dutse. He said the intervention aims to support the federal government in achieving food security.
The FADAMA Coordinator explained that the early provision of fertilisers is critical for a successful farming season. “We understand the importance of timely agricultural inputs in boosting productivity. This is part of Jigawa State’s commitment to leading in agricultural production, and this is one of the steps towards achieving that,” Aliyu stated.
According to Malam Aliyu Inuwa, “The aim is to boost food production, achieve food security, and improve the livelihoods of citizens, especially rural communities.”
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Tribune Online commended Governor Umar Namadi for the timely distribution of agricultural inputs to boost food production.
They noted, “For years, farmers in the state have often faced delays in receiving essential inputs, which has historically led to reduced yields and economic hardships.”
“However, this administration has prioritised the timely distribution of agricultural inputs, addressing a long-standing challenge.”
Speaking to the Online Tribune, Malam Ibrahim Usman said, “This year, we received our fertilisers at the time when the plants needed them most, unlike before.”
“This timely intervention means we can now maximise our crop yields, and we’re hopeful for a bountiful harvest,” he added.
