Legal expert Barrister Abdul Adamu Fage has stated that a lack of education and awareness of the rule of law has greatly contributed to the display of foreign (Russian) flags by youths in the Northern part of the country during recent nationwide protests.

He also noted that Southern youths did not display foreign flags, likely due to the education they have received and their understanding of the implications.

Both the governors of Nasarawa state and Kaduna have similarly cited lack of education as a significant factor in Northern youths displaying the Russian flag during the recent protests.

In an interview in Kano, Barrister Fage emphasized the importance of education in guiding the youth away from ignorance and called on various governments and stakeholders to prioritize providing quality education for young people.

He urged affluent individuals to support underprivileged children to access quality education, creating a level playing field for all.

Barrister Fage also called for the apprehension and prosecution of those who used innocent teenagers to display the Russian flag during the protests, emphasizing that such actions are punishable under the country’s laws and could be seen as an attempt to call for foreign intervention.

“Nigeria is a sovereign country, so those people flying the Russian flag during the hunger nationwide protests must be brought to book to serve as deterrent to others in the future.

Barrister Fage, however, hinted that this kind of negative tendency does not happen in the Southern part of the country, simply because of awareness and qualitative education parents were given to their children.

He then called on various governments in the northern part of the country to put heads together and search for positive ways to curtailed such an ugly re- occurence in future.

According to him, if children who were from poor families acquired education or engaged in vocational skills, it would be very hard for ungodly people to use them as a conduit pipe, to foment trouble and cause untold hardship to innocent people in society.
