As part of efforts to ensure food security, the lawmaker representing Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Jimi Odimayo, has distributed fertilizers worth millions of Naira to farmers in the two local governments within the constituency.

Odimayo said the distribution of the fertilizers which were distributed to farmers in Irele and Okitipupa local government areas was a demonstration of his unwavering commitment and development of the agricultural sector.

The lawmaker who expressed his commitment to the development of the agricultural sector in his federal constituency said this will go a long way to support farmers towards food security and economic growth.

According to him, the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on agricultural development, saying this is a key component of the nation’s economic growth.

Odimayo said the effort is specifically aimed towards boosting local farmers production by increasing crop yields and enhancing food production.

The lawmaker said that the impact of the fertilizer distribution was expected to enhance agricultural output, improve crop yields, and contribute to the economic growth of the local communities.

He said “Providing fertilizers is a crucial strategy to improve agricultural practices and ensure that farmers have the necessary resources to succeed.

“I am sure the distribution of fertilizer would go a long way in improving crop yields and ultimately the income of farmers”

“It is however, necessary and important for us to support local farmers to increase crop yield and enhance food production and more assistance are in the way to ensure food security in the state.

He noted that the provision of fertilizers is part of a broader strategy to improve agricultural practices and provide farmers with essential resources.

He urged the farmers to make the best use of the fertilizers, encouraging them to continue their hard work in helping the nation to overcome the fear of food insecurity.

He, however, disclosed that there are plans to install Solar Street Lights in the communities in the two local government areas, saying this installation is progressing will improve security and quality of life in the constituency.

Odimayo assured constituents that the restoration of electricity to Irele and Ese Odo local government areas will be completed by December.

“This has been made possible through successful collaboration with stakeholders who secured funding to connect these areas directly to the Ode Erinje 132KVA.

“This project includes restoring and repairing existing cables and procuring new transformers to ensure a stable power supply.

He also promised to fulfill the N100,000 grant for participants of the bead-making programme organised by him in June, saying the money will be disbursed by the end of August.

Speaking on the current national challenges Odimayo called for patience with President Tinubu’s administration, acknowledging the difficulties Nigerians are facing while assuring that these challenges are temporary and will soon be a thing of the past.

He emphasized that there is hope and the Tinubu government is committed to fulfilling its promises of economic recovery and national development.

Speaking on the water scarcity in parts of the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Odimayo said plans are under way to sink boreholes in villages in need of potable water in the coming months, saying discussions are already underway with the United Nations for sustainable solutions.

He said a new 5-Kilometer road construction project within the constituency will soon commence as part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and connectivity between communities.

The legislator expressed gratitude to constituents for their unwavering support and commended the youth for maintaining peace during the #EndBadGovernance protests, noting their exemplary conduct.

He solicited support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the forthcoming governorship election in the state urging the people to support the governor in his drive to reposition the state.
