The newly inaugurated All Progressives Congress, APC, Chairman in Osun on Tuesday, said there is no room for former Governor Rauf Aregbesola to turn himself to an emperor in the state.
Addressing a Press Conference, tagged, “Excesses of The Osun Progressives”, a group within the APC loyal to Aregbesola, at the party Secretariat in Osogbo, Famodun said the few aggrieved party members are projecting the view of an individual at the detriment of collective members of the party.
He said the myriad of verbal attacks on the person of the Governor and the party in the state by loyalists of Aregbesola was in a bid to perpetrate expired leadership on the party in the state.
“Their true aim is just to get leverage because of a single person (Rauf Aregbesola) who believes he should be an emperor in this state. It is not possible for us to accommodate somebody to be an emperor in a state like this.
“We have more than 500,000 members in APC, we can’t a set of people to perpetually become a nuisance at the expense of better and loyal party members.
“Majority of them are former commissioners and former officeholders who believe they should continue to remain in government. We cannot continue with that type of politics, moreover, life doesn’t allow such. If we see that they have a genuine intention for reconciliation, we can still reconcile but we will be very careful as we move closer to the election period”, he said.
