The National Chairman of Action Alliance (AA) Political Party, Chief Clement Udeze on Monday condemned in strong terms the bomb attack on the headquarters of Action Peoples Party (APP), in River State.

Chief Udeze in a statement obtained by Nigerian Tribune, who expressed grave concern over ugly development, however, noted that the protection of live, liberty and critical national assets in Rivers State should be a top priority on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda.

He explained that: “The National Chairman, Action Peoples Party, Barrister Uche Nnadi, spoke with me this morning, 12th of August, 2024, concerning an unexpected and unwarranted attack on their Headquarters in Rivers State, by those suspected to be Agents of Destabilization, Facilitators of the destruction of democracy in Nigeria; willfully inviting anarchy and promoting a call to the breakdown of law and order in Rivers State.

“It is with deep feelings of sadness that we join other well-meaning Nigerians and Rivers people in particular to unequivocally condemn the riotous attack on our democracy, and the bombing of the State Secretariat of the Action Peoples Party, and we hereby demand that the perpetrators should be fished out and made to face the law, to serve as a deterrent to those planning for another bout of attack or even a reprisal or vengeful attacks.

“We are particularly interested in requesting for more commitment from the Federal Government to the security and peace of Rivers State – a commitment that should necessitate the end to the double standard by the security operatives in that state, as it has become imperative that the issue of the protection of live, liberty and critical national assets in Rivers State should become paramount in the agenda of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

In line with the repeated calls for the defense of our democracy, our Party, Action Alliance, wish to implore you Mr. President, to call the main political stakeholders in Rivers State, to order; and in the same vein, we strongly request that all the stakeholders restrain their best political interest now, and it has to be down immediately for the safety of the State and everyone therein.”

He also urged the Chief Security Officers in Rivers State on the need to “collaborate with each other and avoid any act that will compromise them professionally, but effectively ensure the provision of security to our people.

“As a party, our primary objective in this press statement is to request for inclusive Security in the state, to foster an inclusive approach to security at both the State and Grassroots level by: promoting the active participation and representation of women, youth, civil society groups, community-based organizations, faith-based organisations, socio-cultural associations, etc, for peacebuilding and conflict resolution.”

He also harped on the need for sharing experiences, best practices, and innovative approaches from grassroots
initiatives that have successfully advanced inclusive security.

The AA Chieftain also underscored the need for building partnerships and collaboration among the government, civil society organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders to jointly implement inclusive security initiatives.

“This call is as urgent and necessary as any other national issue and the
investigation should be thorough, to fish out the culprits immediately,” he stressed.
