A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Kazeem Abidikugu, through his NGO known as DAKA foundation, has donated home jerseys to the feeder’s team of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan.
Speaking during the presentation held at 3SC office, Jericho, Ibadan, Abidikugu, a UK-based psychiatric consultant who was represented by Idris Ajibola Amimasahun, said the donation was part of his contributions to youth and sports development in Oyo State.
He said he took interest in sports development as it provides an avenue to build human well-being, self-confidence and promote happiness.
“Sports not only enhances speed, skill, stamina and flexibility but also increases self-esteem, builds social skills and leadership, increases resilience and inculcates values,” he said.
Abidikugu, also noted that if youths could engage in sports, this will surely make them shun social vices.
He promised to champion the development of youths in whatever capacity he found himself.
In his remarks, chairman of 3SC, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan, said the club appreciates the gesture of the donor, promising that the club will not let its teeming supporters down.
“Our sincere appreciation goes to an amazing man, a philanthropist, lover of the game, Dr Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu, for his generous support towards the club.
“These newly donated set of match and training wears shall be donned in our forthcoming NPFL U19 Youth League,” Olaniyan said.
