A concerned of less privileged and Displaced citizens group in  Zamfara, has called on police to thoroughly investigate the killing of one Magaji Lawal and other extra-judicial killings in the state.

The group has also commended the Zamfara state commissioner of police for the arrest of former commandant Zamfara state Community Protection Guard rtd Col.Rabiu Yandoto who was alleged to have killed  Magaji Lawal in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening in Gusau, the state capital, the Chairman of the group Comrade Murtala Ibrahim urged the police commissioner in the state to continue with his tireless efforts in bringing killers of innocent people to the book.

The statement reads in parts: “As  patriotic citizen and activist for justice, I am writing to commend the Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State for his commitment to investigating the case of Magaji Lawal, who was allegedly killed by suspected members of the Community Protection Guard (CPG).

“According to the Commissioner of Police, members of the CPG claimed they did not kill Magaji Lawal. Instead, they alleged that their former Commander, Col. Rabiu Yandoto, was responsible for the killing.

“The Police commissioner emphasized that the former state Commandant of the CPG, Col. Yandoto, has been arrested and is being investigated in connection with Magaji Lawal’s death.

“He also clarified that the case is not politically motivated but rather a matter of murder, which will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.

“I commend the Commissioner for his commitment to an impartial investigation, unaffected by potential political connections. This dedication to justice is truly commendable”.

He further urged the Commissioner to continue investigating the killings of innocent people, particularly Iman Hassan Mada. The community needs reassurance that those responsible will be held accountable.

“As a patriotic citizen and activist for justice, I stand in solidarity with the Magaji family and offer my support in their quest for justice. I have assembled a team of lawyers who will assist the family in seeking justice for their loved one,” he mentioned.
