The Silverbird Group recently hosted a media parley for the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant at its Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event brought together sponsors, media representatives, and key stakeholders , in preparation for its grand finale on August 31, at the Eko Convention Centre.

Speaking the event, President of Silverbird Group and National Coordinator of Miss Universe Nigeria, Guy Murray-Bruce, informed attendees about the evolving nature of the pageant. He reaffirmed the pageant’s commitment to being an inclusive contest for all natural-born women from diverse walks of life and revealed that the winner of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico in November. Additionally, the runner-up will have the opportunity to participate in the Miss Supranational pageant.

Guy Murray-Bruce also addressed an ongoing incident in South Africa involving a contestant, Chidima Adetshina, who withdrew from the Miss South Africa pageant over nationality issues, sparking international controversy. He confirmed that Chidima has accepted an invitation to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant and will now be the official 25th delegate representing Taraba State.

In an acceptance video, Chidinma expressed gratitude to the organisers and shared her excitement to be part of the competition. Her inclusion in the pageant adds a unique dimension to this year’s event, reflecting the pageant’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity. Concluding, he added that this year’s winner will receive ₦10 million in cash and other prizes, underscoring the pageant’s dedication to empowering women.

The outgoing queen, Ugochi Ihezue Nwachukwu, also shared her delight and readiness to crown the next Miss Universe Nigeria. Ugochi, who has become an inspiring figure, announced an exciting partnership with the Miss Universe Nigeria team. She revealed her commitment to providing sponsorships for contestants who perform well in the build-up to the event, further supporting their journey in the pageant.

She also took the opportunity to encourage the delegates to show support for one another throughout the competition. Ugochi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the participating brands for their role in promoting and sustaining the culture of pageantry in Nigeria.

The reigning queen, Miss Ada Eme, also addressed the delegates, sharing her joy and optimism for their journey. She advised the contestants to focus on personal development and self improvement to present a well-rounded personality on the international stage. Ada wished all the delegates the best of luck as they begin their journey to the crown, urging them to embrace the experience fully.

Mr. Arthur Ngwube, the brand manager of Silverbird Group, introduced the official theme for this year’s event, ‘Digital Divas’. According to him, the theme reflects the increasing importance of digital presence and influence in today’s world, encouraging the delegates to embrace technology, social media, and digital platforms as they compete for the crown.

The event also covered the subject of voting, which is a crucial element of the competition. It was announced that the voting process has officially begun, allowing audiences to cast their votes for their favorite contestant as many times as they wish. Voting will remain open until the eve of the event, August 30. This interactive process aims to engage the public in the selection of the next Miss Universe Nigeria.

As the countdown to the grand finale begins, all eyes are on the Eko Convention Centre, where the next Miss Universe Nigeria will be crowned, and a new chapter in Nigerian pageantry will unfold.
