Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has spoken out once again to clear the air on accusations that she was involved in a theft incident earlier this year.

The allegations, which surfaced in February 2024, claimed that Anjorin stole gold worth ₦91,000 from a market stall in Lagos. During a recent interview with media personality Timi Agbaje, the actress debunked the reports, stating that she could never stoop so low as to steal.

Setting the record straight, Anjorin expressed disbelief at the nature of the allegations. She pointed out that a gram of gold was valued at ₦150,000 at the time, making the alleged stolen amount insignificant.

“Let’s first establish the fact that we’re talking about ₦91,000 gold when a gram of gold was 150,000. A gram of gold is less than a grain of rice, so how can you go into the market to steal something less than a grain of rice, a single rice?” she remarked.

Anjorin said she found it absurd that anyone would believe she could be involved in such an act. She noted that her reputation as a certified jewelry seller and fabric merchant made the idea of her committing theft even more preposterous.

“I’m a certified jewelry seller, I sell gold and diamonds. I am also a certified fabric merchant. How can I stoop so low to go to Eko Idumota to steal a gram of gold? Something that is less than a grain of rice? That is ridiculous,” she said.

The actress went on to describe how the false accusation deeply affected her, as she takes pride in her integrity and hard-earned success. “I am not a thief, I will never be a thief. I am too straightforward and too disciplined to become a thief,” Anjorin asserted.

Recalling the events of February 5, Anjorin explained how a viral video of her in a shop circulated on social media, sparking controversy.

In the footage, she was accused of shoplifting, and she could be seen trying to avoid being recorded by the people around her. A crowd gathered, and while some voices accused her of theft, others, including a woman’s voice heard in the background, insisted that Anjorin did not steal.

Despite the public humiliation and online backlash, Anjorin maintained her innocence. Shortly after the incident, she took to social media to share her side of the story, claiming that she had been framed by someone she referred to as “Shekpeteri.”

The actress revealed that this individual had orchestrated the entire scenario to tarnish her reputation, although she did not disclose further details.

The saga sparked a heated debate among social media users, with some questioning the motives behind the accusation.

“People don’t realise the damage these lies can cause. I have built my career over the years, and it hurts to see people try to bring it down with baseless accusations,” she lamented.

“I am stronger than ever. This experience has taught me a lot about resilience and the importance of standing up for yourself,” she added.
