The Commissioner of Police, NIger State Command CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has ordered the review of security architecture in the Tafa local government area of the state to checkmate rising crimes.
The indication to this effect occurred on Monday in Minna the state capital, following the abductions of no fewer than about seven persons which included a hotel owner, hotel manager, the brother to the wife of the hotelier and about four guests who logged in a hotel located around Angwan Power Line in Gauraka community of the Council area at about 1:00am on Saturday.
Tribune Online gathered that the gunmen suspected to be bandits allegedly stormed the hotel premises in the early hours of last Saturday and abducted the victims, including the hotelier said to be a director and a manager of the hotel.
However, sources from the community who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity in an interview on the telephone, said that seven persons allegedly kidnapped from the hotel were the director, his younger brother and his wife, including the hotel manager, and three guests who lodged in the hotel as at the time of the unfortunate attack by the fleeing hoodlums.
Further checks revealed that similar incidents had occurred in Gauraka in recent times were about five in numbers recorded similar incidents within the last four months. The last kidnapping attack occurred about three weeks ago in the community.
However, a statement by the authorities of the State Police Command, through the Image Maker of the Command, Wasiu Abiodun, a Superintendent of Police,(SP) stated that only two people were abducted.
According to him, “On 16/8/2024 at about 0500hrs, information was received that on same date at about 0120hrs, suspected kidnappers attacked a hotel located around Angwan Power Line, Gauraka area of Tafa, and reportedly abducted two persons, and not seven which were the director of the hotel and his manager.”
Abiodun stated further that the Police operatives attached to Gauraka and Sabon-Wuse were currently investigating the incident and were trailing the kidnappers in a bid to rescue the victims.
He said, “The CP had issued a matching order to ensure the rescue of the victims.”
