The Niger State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has said it received a report of banditry attacks in Bassa and Anguwan Magiro villages both in the Shiroro Local Government Area of the state which happened on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Ministry stated this in a press statement made available to journalists on Thursday signed by its Director, Media and Strategy, Malam Habibu Wushishi.
The statement added that in Anguwan Magiro, within the council area, no fewer than 13 persons were confirmed dead, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries, just as no case of abduction was reported.
According to Wushishi, “Over 12 neighbouring villages residents are currently in Erena Internally Displaced Persons camp (IDPs) with their numbers yet to be ascertained.”
The statement, however, emphasised that at Bassa, no life was lost, stressing that there were 3 shops broken and no abduction case was reported .
Meanwhile, the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has expressed their heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims in Shiroro Local Government and entire people of the state over the unfortunate incidents .
