A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Akinjide Akinola, has donated a sum of 2 million naira to victims of a fire accident at a market located at Hope Junction, Alakia Road, Ibadan.
Akinola, who is aspiring to represent Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, sympathized with the business owners affected by the inferno, which was caused by an unknown factor.
The APC chieftain made the donation recently during his visit to the scene of the fire, which occurred last week.
While speaking further at the scene, the Abuja-based businessman and Ibadan-born politician said, “Though we are yet to know the cause of this fire incident, what we are seeing here is more than what we can quickly quantify. That is, to establish the number of businesses that were destroyed by this fire incident.”

“It is a sad event, but we implore those affected to take solace in God. With the current economic state of Nigeria, this is a huge blow to all. We are deeply concerned by this occurrence. We grieve with you all and will do the needful in supporting the various businesses affected.”
During his visit, Akinola observed that many shops with valuables, an eatery, confectionery stores, and a bakery were completely razed by the inferno.
The House of Representatives hopeful also advised that the affected individuals should form a committee to take inventory of the lost properties and businesses, making it easier for potential donors to understand the extent of the support needed.
