A new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Anthony Uga, has assumed duty in Imo State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chibunna Nwamgborogwu, it was noted that Mr. Uga, who took over from Mr. Evaristus Ebeniro, assumed duty on August 8, 2024.

Nwamgborogwu described Uga as a “square peg in a square hole,” emphasizing that his wealth of experience would greatly benefit the discharge of his duties in Imo.

The new Sector Commander holds a doctorate in History and International Relations from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

He previously served as Corps Commander in charge of transport under the Corps’ Department of Technical Services before his redeployment to Ogun State, where he served from July 2023 to July 2024.

Uga, who later spoke to newsmen, affirmed his commitment to performing his duties to the best of his abilities.

He stated that, in addition to addressing traffic infractions, the Command under his leadership would collaborate with other security agencies in intelligence gathering to combat insecurity.

He advised motorists to always obey traffic rules, adding that FRSC tow truck operatives, who are always on red alert, will clear all wrongly parked vehicles without exception.

Uga also mentioned that the Command will intensify its public awareness campaigns through increased engagement via conventional and social media channels.

“Every Tuesday morning, we engage with the people of Imo on radio to sensitize them on the importance of obeying traffic rules, including avoiding infractions such as wrong parking,” Uga said.

“This is yielding the desired results, and we will do more in close synergy with all stakeholders.”

The Commander expressed optimism that, with the cooperation of the people of Imo, the Command will achieve new milestones.
