The Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr Akinwumi Sowore stated that the state government has collaborated with the Federal Government to build 1,000 housing units to address housing deficit in the state

Sowore who dropped this hint while speaking to newsmen in Akure, the state capital, on Thursday, said collaboration would employ different approach towards reducing housing deficit in the state.

According to him, the collaboration would solve the housing issues challenges confronting the residents of the state, and disclosed that the state ministry of lands and housing was saddled with construction, upgrade and maintenance of all public buildings to global standards.

He said the ministry has allocated 100 hectares of land  to the Federal Housing Authority in Akure, Ikare, Ore and Ugbo for the construction of 1,000 housing units.

Sowore also disclosed that the new governor’s lodge was almost on 90 per cent completion while the ministry has commenced the renovation of the deputy governor’s  lodge and the Presidential lodge which were 55 and 100 per cent completions respectively.

He said “Our ministry is in charge of acquisition of lands and payment of compensation, resolution of disputes, and management of government lands.

“We also have the online title search through the design of barcode on 1,825 issued, digitalised and indexed Certificates of Occupancy (CofO) which is linked to an e-archive database solution.

“The ministry has allocated 100 hectares  to the Federal Housing Authority in Akure, Ikare, Ore and Ugbo for the construction of 1,000 housing units”

He however, assured that the housing units would be delivered soon, as all arrangements had been completed for the take off of the project.
