LEADERS in various capacities in the society have been charged to see their positions as a trust for which they will account to Allah.
The coordinator of the Apapa zone of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO), Malam Sanni Adenle Ogidan, gave this charge while presenting a grinding machine to an underprivileged woman, Mrs Suwebat Akande, at the Coker/Aguda Local Council Development Area secretariat in Lagos.
Ogidan urged those holding leadership positions to regard such as amanah (trust) which will form part of their legacies while alive and after their death.
The NACOMYO coordinator, who is also the chairman of the Community Development Council for Coker/Aguda LCDA, said his decision to donate the grinding machine, which was given to him by Senator Wasiu Esinlokun, was to make life easier for Mrs Akande.
He disclosed that a committee chose the woman as the recipient of the item based on the consideration that she had only recently lost her breadwinner, her daughter who left the care of a baby to her following her death from giving birth to the child.
Ogidan charged Muslims not to close their eyes to the plight of the underprivileged around them.
The grinding machine was supplemented with a gift of N10,000 cash by the chairman of Coker/Aguda LCDA, Mr Rasak Ibrahim Olamilekan.
