The World Food Programme (WFP) in collaboration with Africa Youth Growth Foundation has distributed 1963 metric tonnes of Wheat to some communities across Katsina state.
The benefitting communities are from across five local governments of the state which include Kurfi, Dutsinma, Batsari, Safana, and Da Musa local governments.
Speaking at the launching of the distribution tagged the Ukrainian Wheat Distribution Programme, the Katsina field officer of Africa Youth Growth Foundation, Timothy Ugudu disclosed that the programme targets 86,389 beneficiaries across the five local governments.
He noted that these five local governments were selected based on their vulnerability to insecurity and food insecurity.
Also speaking , the Executive- Director of Africa Youth Growth Foundation, Dr. Aremu Salifu noted that the foundation is working to ensure that nobody is left out of the programme.
Dr Salifu, therefore, thanked religious and community leaders for their support of the programme.
In her remarks, Senior special assistant to Katsina state governor on Sustainable development goals, Barrister Maryam Sodangi has appreciated the efforts of the foundation in supporting Katsina.
She gave the state government commitment to supporting any programme and initiative that will enhance good security in the state.
The wheat distribution to the selected communities would cover three months.
