The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended two heads of security agencies for their contributions to improving security in the FCT.

The honourees are Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Benneth Igweh, and Assistant Director-General of the Department of State Services, Ado Muazu.

Igweh, the immediate past Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, was recently promoted to AIG, overseeing Zone 7. Muazu, formerly the FCT State Director of DSS, was also promoted to Assistant D-G and transferred to the National Headquarters of the service.

At a dinner held in their honour on Saturday in Abuja, the minister praised the two officers for their dedication to ensuring the safety of FCT residents. Wike described Igweh as a relentless officer in combating criminality and expressed gratitude for his continued service.

Wike also lauded Muazu as a quiet yet highly committed officer who performed exceptionally during his tenure in the FCT.

“These two officers have done an outstanding job securing lives and properties in the FCT,” Wike said. “We are here today to celebrate and give thanks to God that these individuals, through their hard work and commitment, have been promoted.”

The minister further stated: “People who work diligently should be honoured while they are alive, not only when they pass away. These gentlemen have allowed us to sleep peacefully, and it is important we recognise their efforts and thank them for their service.”

Wike also announced the FCT Administration’s gift of a Prado Jeep to each officer to support logistics in their new roles, instructing the Chief of Staff to ensure the delivery of the vehicles.

“On behalf of the FCT, we say thank you. You have done well, and we encourage you to continue with that same spirit of dedication in your new positions,” Wike added.

Responding on behalf of himself and Muazu, Igweh expressed gratitude to the minister and the FCT Administration for recognising their efforts. He reassured residents that he remains committed to enhancing security in the FCT.

“I want to inform Abuja residents that I am still around,” Igweh said. “I’ve told the criminals, I am not going anywhere. Now that I have more power as an AIG, you’d better start packing up, because I’m here to keep Abuja safe.”

He and Muazu expressed their willingness to continue working with Wike to ensure the safety of the capital’s residents.
