Chibizor Benjamin, a 43-year-old man, and two others, Akpan Sunday (51) and Emmanuel Okechukwu, have been arrested by the Lagos Police Command for allegedly defiling Benjamin’s 12-year-old stepdaughter.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the Lagos police command, Benjamin has confessed to the crime.
The case was reported to the police by the victim’s aunt, Ngozi, at the Ago Okota Police Station, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
They have been transferred to the Gender Unit of the state police command in Ikeja for further investigation.
The Lagos police spokesperson Hundeyin said ” The case was reported by one Ngozi ‘f ‘ aged on behalf of her niece by name ‘f’ aged 12yrs, against the following people: Chibuzo Benjamin ‘m’ aged 43yrs, Sunday Akpan ‘m’ aged 51 years and Emmanuel Okechukwu ‘m’ aged 42 years all of Canal View, Ago Okota, Lagos.
He continued that “The complainant alleged that the suspects had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of the survivor since August, 2024.
One of the alleged suspects, Chibuzor Benjamin, is the stepfather of the survivor. The other two alleged suspects live on the same street as the survivor’s mother and stepfather.
The said Chibuzor Benjamin and Sunday Akpan confessed to the crime, while the third suspect name Emmanuel Okechukwu denied the allegation.”
