Following the isolation of several communities, the contractor handling the Umutu-Abavo-Agbor section of the Amukpe-Uromi-Abuja federal highway rehabilitation has been urgently called to return to the site.

The traditional ruler of Abavo Kingdom, HRM King Uche Irenuma, made the call in a statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Chief Yusuf Odige, the Odafin-Ako-Eze of Abavo Kingdom, during this year’s New Yam celebration. He noted that the deplorable condition of the road has devastated the area’s economy and contributed to insecurity along the highway.

The monarch recalled the nightmares motorists and travelers face along the axis, as they are forced to navigate alternative routes before reaching their destinations.

He added that this year’s New Yam celebration, which ends this weekend, marked the planting of 100 trees within the newly designated Green Zone Area, serving as the “lungs” of the historic Abavo Forest and Wildlife Reserve (Ogbe-Enya-Nze).

According to him, the tree-planting exercise is a way of addressing some of the environmental changes the kingdom has noticed.

He called on the people to reach out to their families, neighbors, friends, and loved ones to foster unity among them.

Obi Uche Irenuma urged them to come together as one family to celebrate another year of fruitful harvest.

He also charged them to remain law-abiding and continue to support the programs and policies of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, which aims to elevate the state to greater heights.

The monarch also encouraged his people to support Non-Governmental Organizations working in the area to combat the effects of climate change.
