The Owamiran of Esa-Oke in Osun State, Oba Adeyemi Adediran, on Thursday charged parents to provide their children with good parenting and quality education that could exceptionally distinguish them among their contemporaries.

The royal father argued that education is a harmonious training of the physical, mental, and social capabilities of every individual, maintaining that with quality education, they would become the leaders of tomorrow.

He further urged teachers in public schools to impart knowledge that would help students discover their dreams in life.

Speaking at the renovation of a four-block classroom building at The Apostolic Primary School, Esa-Oke, by the children of the late Pastor Ezekiel Daramola, the traditional ruler commended the children’s efforts in the renovation, saying it would enhance their learning.

“I commend the Daramola family for their generosity and call on other well-meaning individuals to follow suit because the government alone cannot handle every community’s needs.”

While expressing his dissatisfaction with the poor conditions of many public schools in the community, he stated that it is not a proper way to honor the memory of the late Bola Ige, a prominent politician and indigene of the town, who advocated for free education while he was alive.

Oba Adediran also noted that he had reported the deplorable condition of the schools to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for prompt intervention.

He thereafter commended SUBEB for responding to his request by asking the community to provide pictures and video clips of the structures.

In his remarks at the event, the Chairman of the Esa-Oke Central Union, Mr. Yinusa Bamigboye, said, “The union collaborated with the Daramola family to renovate the dilapidated structure after waiting for government intervention for years.”

According to him, 51 teachers have been recruited for both primary and secondary schools in Esa-Oke with the support of the community, and he assured that every other necessary step would be taken to promote quality education among school pupils in the community.

He then urged indigenes and other well-to-do individuals, including philanthropists within and outside the town, to strive to add value to the lives of the younger generation through basic provisions of tools that could enhance their learning.

Also, in her remarks, Mrs. Toyin Babaniyi, who represented the Osun State Commissioner for Education, commended the Adeleke administration for prioritizing quality education.

Babaniyi, who is the Chairperson of the Local Government Education Board in the Obokun Local Government Area of the state, disclosed further that the governor understands the importance of a good education and does not want any student to be half-baked by the end of their educational pursuit.

According to her, his administration has been addressing the numerous public schools that are in a poor state since he assumed office, and all affected schools will be attended to one by one.
