THE Amir (Coordinator), Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), B-Zone, Dr Moshood Kolawole, has called on government at all levels, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to always support programmes geared towards moral rebirth and spiritual rejuvenation of Nigerian youths.

He also encouraged parents and guardians to avail their children and wards of youth reorientation and empowerment initiatives to make them useful members of the society.

Dr Kolawole made the call on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State, at a press conference to announce the body’s 114th Islamic Vacation Course (IVC) with the theme ‘The Quest for Spiritual Balance’.

He explained that the 10-day event, which will be formally opened on December 26, 2024, is scheduled to hold between December 23, 2024 and January 1, 2025.

According to him, the IVC has six objectives which include spiritual and educational growth, personal and leadership development, family and community well-being, as well as skills development and capacity building.

Dr Kolawole noted that this year’s IVC was designed to reflect contemporary challenges and opportunities with a view to addressing pressures and distractions being faced by the youth.

“IVC speaks to critical need for spiritual, emotional and mental equilibrium in the lives of Muslim youths,” he said.

The MSSN B-Zone coordinator said the programme would also equip participants with required knowledge, faith and resilience to thrive in all aspects of life.

“We are honoured to have Justice Abdur Raheem Ahmad Sayi, Qaadi of the Shariah Court of Appeal, Kwara State, as our guest lecturer. His extensive knowledge and experience will provide invaluable insights during the formal opening lecture,” he said.

Dr Kolawole listed B-Zone IVC permanent site at Imolisa Village, Ogunmakin, Ogun State; Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State (for Edo/Delta axis) and Al-Usrah Complex, Port Harcourt, Rivers State (for Rivers axis) as venues for the 2024 IVC, stressing that efforts were ongoing to improve facilities at the camps.

The IVC organiser and Naibul Amir (Deputy Zonal Coordinator), MSSN B-Zone, Malam Ali Abdulsalam, stated that all Muslims are eligible to be part of the event, stressing the imperative of attendance with the mindset of the worship of Allah and acquisition of the knowledge of Islam.

According to Abdulsalam, 10,000 participants are expected at the programme, as reasonable fee is charged for registration to encourage mass participation.

The press conference had in attendance the Amir, MSSN, Oyo Area Unit, Malam Abdulkabeer Alamal-Yakeen, represented by Malam Misbaudeen Salaudeen; the Amir, Ogun MSSN Area Unit, Malam Abdulfatah Adigun, represented by Malam Jamiu Alanla, and the Amir, MSSN Lagos Area Unit, Malam Yusuf Nurudeen, among others.
