The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has officially recommended the expulsion of former governor Ayodele Fayose over allegations of working against the interests of the party in the state.

Dare Adeleke, the state chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee, disclosed this while addressing journalists over the weekend in Ado-Ekiti. He stated that Fayose’s expulsion was part of the recommendations submitted to the Tom Ikimi-led Disciplinary Panel and the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Reconciliation Committee set up by the National Working Committee of the PDP.

He noted that the party’s recommendation for the ex-governor’s expulsion stemmed from his alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct, including his public declaration and repeated endorsements of Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the ruling All Progressives Congress for a second term in the 2026 governorship poll.

The caretaker chairman emphasized that the activities of the former governor have brought shame and ridicule to the PDP and might mislead the public, giving them a distorted and false image of what the party stands for.

He stated that it was time for the national leadership of the party to expel Fayose and his political allies, warning that allowing them to remain in the PDP would be suicidal, as their “body and soul” are no longer with the party.

According to him, “It is with deep concern that I must address the anti-party activities of Ayo Fayose and his cohorts. His public declarations and repeated endorsements of the opposition are a direct affront to the values and unity of our great party.

“I strongly condemn these actions and encourage him to take the bold and honest step of officially decamping rather than openly aligning himself with an opposing party and misleading others for his self-serving interests. His actions mislead the public, giving them a distorted and false image of what the PDP stands for. Our focus is on strengthening Ekiti PDP, and such behavior only serves to weaken our collective efforts.

“We are pleased to say that Fayose is no longer a member of the PDP. Therefore, whatever he says is meant to massage the ego of his boss and paymaster, Governor Oyebanji. If a man could shout from the rooftops that BAO has come to his house 18 times in two years, what is he doing there?

“We have met with the Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola-led reconciliation committee, and our recommendation on behalf of the party members is that Ayodele Fayose and his allies must be expelled from the party for us to achieve the desired peace.

“Mr. Fayose is a survivalist. He is someone who wants everything for himself. If a person could sponsor his child as a PDP candidate and then withdraw that child from the race midway to support the APC based on material gain, will you take such a person seriously?

Adeleke added that the ex-governor has instituted four different cases against the PDP caretaker committee less than two months after it took office, with the sole aim of weakening the party in the state.

“He needs to say something sweet to impress Governor Oyebanji. He has taken the caretaker committee to court four times within the two months we have assumed office, solely to weaken the PDP at the behest of his paymasters,” he said.
