THE Adegun royal family in lkoyi-Ile, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to consider the decisions of the town’s kingmakers in the selection of a new Onikoyi.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that indigenes of the community, at home and in the diaspora,  have unanimously supported the selection of a candidate for the stool.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the Esho of Ikoyi, Prince Shehu Fasasi Hannafi, on the sidelines of the need to alert of the state governor against the activities of alleged fifth columnist in the selection of a new Onikoyi

Hannafi explained that over 90 percent of kingmakers of the community had unanimously supported the selection of Princes Oladunni Atoyebi Jimoh Saka as the next Onikoyi of Ikoyiland.

He said that this became imperative to inform the governor that the town is noted for peaceful coexistence and will not allow some individuals to take the advantage of the delay in the selection of a new monarch to cause mischief and mayhem in the town.

“As one of the prominent kingmakers who respects the tradition, culture and value system of the community, I deem it fit to guide the governor appropriately,” he said.

Hannafi added that the choice of Saka by kingmakers and whose ancestry is not in doubt implores the governor to consider the decisions of the kingmakers for the development of the town.

The Esho of Ikoyi remarked that upturning the spiritual and traditional responsibilities of the kingmakers may cause unnecessary tension.

Hanafi who noted that the community appreciated the state governor for his remarkable transformations of the state which had manifested in the area, said, “We want fairness and justice in the stool of Onikoyi as recommended by the kingmakers.”
