Thousands of constituents cutting across Cross River Southern senatorial district are to be provided with vital and comprehensive medical services free, courtesy of a red chamber member representing the constituency, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong.
In a statement shared on social media and signed on behalf of Senator Ekpenyong’s constituency office by Mr. Ted Afu Inyang, it was announced that the medical outreach which begins on Monday will end on Saturday, at the Calabar Women and Children Hospital, situated at 164/165 Murtala Muhammed Highway, Calabar.
The initiative was a collaboration between the Senator and notable healthcare organisations, including the Child Survival and Development Organisation of Nigeria (CSDON) and the World Surgical Foundation to facilitate the free medical mission.
The outreach will offer a variety of healthcare services, such as surgical treatment for conditions like fibroid, goitre, lipoma, hernia, appendix issues, and other lumps.
Additionally, it has been arranged for free buses to transport patients from Odukpani council and Ikang in Bakassi, with daily departures at 7:00 a.m.
Other designated pick-up locations include the Maternity ward in Akpabuyo, Akansoko Junction, and Iman Junction in Calabar South Local Government Area.
Inyang emphasised the significance of maintaining a healthy and active population for the socioeconomic advancement of the nation, noting that the outreach also aligns with the current administration’s healthcare and rural development initiatives.
