Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has taunted Democratic candidate Kamala Harris following the outcome of the US presidential election, calling on Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to save the former from defeat.
This comes after Donald Trump’s victory in the election.
Taking to his X handle on Wednesday, Adeyanju wrote; “INEC can still save Kamala. What INEC cannot do does not exist. They can switch off the server or change results on IREV”.
The 2024 US presidential election has been a highly contested one, with Harris and Trump being the top contenders.
Harris, the Democratic candidate, has been endorsed by various notable individuals and organisations. Despite her efforts, Trump’s momentum seems to have secured his win.
Though Adeyanju’s statement is sarcastic in tone but it’s worth noting that INEC’s jurisdiction is limited to Nigeria, and it’s unclear how they could potentially influence the outcome of the US election.
The US election process is governed by its own electoral laws and institutions.
