Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, has been awarded the prestigious “Rector of the Year” title at the Delta Role Model Award, DREAMS 2024.
The award ceremony, held at Mariam Babangida Leisure Park in Asaba, was attended by distinguished guests, including Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori and Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Olorogun Barr. Arthur Akpowowo.
Organized by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism in collaboration with the African Child Foundation, the Delta Role Model Award, DREAMS 2024, honors Deltans and non-Deltans alike for their contributions to the state and society.

Following the award, Professor Biri expressed his gratitude, viewing it as a testament to the Polytechnic’s ongoing achievements. He highlighted the institution’s fuel-less generator invention, which has gained international attention, with several organizations showing interest in partnership.
Professor Ufuophu-Biri dedicated the award to his family, the staff, and students of Delta State Polytechnic, emphasizing that this recognition inspires him and his team to aim for even greater accomplishments.
Other notable award recipients included Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, State House Speaker Emomotimi Guwor, and Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, High Chief Kestin Pondi.
The event celebrated prominent figures across various fields, honoring their service to Delta State and commitment to community development.
