The Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) has assured of conducting credible, acceptable local government elections.
According to the commission, “We are all set, ready and confident to conduct the elections as planned and will be hitch-free”.
This was disclosed on Monday by the Executive Chairman ZASIEC, Bala Aliyu in Gusau, during the Flagged Off of the Training of Electoral Officers and Assistant Electoral Officers Adhoc Staff for the November 2024 Local Local Government Elections in Zamfara State.
The training was conducted by AMSAG Development and Public Health Consulting Limited under its executive director, Dr Abdullahi Maiwada.
The Executive Chairman represented by Secretary Barrister Abbas Mualledi said “This training is a clear indication of our commitment to continuous improvement and capacity building and development of our electoral Officers and the Adhoc Staff we will be engaging for the conduct of the arduous task on our shoulders of conducting this round of local Government elections in Zamfara State”.
According to him, the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) is confident and fully prepared to ensure all processes as enshrined in the ZASIEC Act as amended 2024 and the Local Government Elections Guidelines are followed.
“We have recently conducted stakeholders meeting with all political parties and the association of political parties in the State. We have also engaged with the security agencies and other collaborating agencies all in our quest to conduct credible, fair and transparent Local government elections come 16th November. 2024″. He mentioned.
Bala Aliyu maintained that ZASIEC under his leadership will be impartial and fair umpire in the conduct of the elections for Local Government Chairmen and Councillor Ships in the state.
He further disclosed that the training will be in three categories which includes Master Trainers, Train the Trainer involving Eos and ROs which will be conducted in the 3 Senatorial Districts of the state.
He assured that ZASIEC is ready,” We are all set, ready and confident to Insha Allah conduct the elections as planned and will be hitch-free”. He said.
“I would also like to commend the efforts of the Zamfara State Government in keeping faith in ZASIEC under my watch to conduct these elections, I encourage each of you to actively participate, share your insights, and embrace the spirit of teamwork”.
In his remarks,the Executive director AMSAG Development and Public Health Consulting limited Dr Abdullahi Maiwada called on participants to stay focus, learn and transmit what they have learned for the best interest of the state.
According to him, the training is being conducted simultaneously in four Zones of Gusau, Kaura Namoda, Talata Mafara and Anka and subsequently, the training of Supervisors and at Local Government levels for Adhoc staff will be conducted from today 11 November.
