As the residents of Ondo State are deciding on who will paddle the affairs of the state for the next four years, Festus Akingbaso, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), raised concerns over the alleged infiltration of villages in the Idanre Local Government Area by hoodlums.
Speaking after casting his vote at Imikan Ward 02, Unit 008, Idanre, Akingbaso commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the timely arrival of voting materials but accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of bringing in thugs to disrupt the process.
“Information reaching me is that the majority of the villages are filled with thugs allegedly brought in by the APC. At the moment, villages like Ofosun, Omifunfun, and Allah are occupied,” Akingbaso alleged.
Residents and stakeholders have called on security agencies to intervene and restore calm to the affected areas, ensuring the safety of lives and property.
There were reports of gunfire on Saturday morning at Ofosun Village, an Ondo State community located near the boundary with Edo State, causing panic among residents.
According to the report, the unidentified persons fired gunshots into the air in some parts of the village. No casualty has been reported, but people are staying indoors.
