Civil Servants in Delta state who travelled abroad without proper authorisation and are still drawing salaries now risk dismissal from the service.

As a result, the state Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko has ordered all public and civil servants who travelled abroad without permission or with expired authorizations to return to duty within two weeks or face severe disciplinary action, including dismissal.

According to him, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed deep concern over the issue and to address it, the Delta State Government has decided to enforce strict discipline and accountability within the public service.

Mr. Bayoko in a circular with No. TM.3/57/T1/46 issued on November 11, 2024, instructed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as a stringent measure to enforce the discipline, to submit lists of officers who travelled abroad since 2018.

“Accounting Officers and Supervisors will be held accountable for any regulatory breaches, including salary recovery from absent officers.

As the circular emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance for indiscipline, the Head of Service stressed that noncompliance will lead to immediate dismissal and urged MDAs to ensure full adherence to regulations.

Mr. Bayoko reiterated the administration’s commitment to ethical governance and called for collective responsibility in upholding public service standards.

He emphasized the need for strict adherence to travel protocols, underscoring every officer’s role in maintaining the integrity of Delta State’s public service.
