Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), the umbrella body of all the youth groups drawn across the six geopolitical zones, has explained the reasons behind his endorsement of Mr Seyi Tinubu to become the next Governor of Lagos State.
Tribune Online reports that the coalition, in a statement issued last week in Owerri, endorsed the President’s son for the Lagos governorship seat in 2027. The endorsement was, however, greeted with mixed reactions from Nigerians.
The President General of CONYL, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, in a statement issued in Owerri on Thursday, insisted that Seyi Tinubu is a man of integrity, transparency, and accountability, adding that he is a man with an overflowing zeal to become a blessing to his people.
According to him, Seyi Tinubu has on several occasions proven his philanthropic gestures that he is a man who is selfless in all senses of the word.
“When there was flooding in Borno State, Mr Seyi and his team were there to sympathize and show support to those Nigerians whose property, homes and means of livelihood were destroyed by the flood. He gave a lot of gift items, food, home utensils, drugs and money to the affected persons during that period when the sad even took place,” the statement partly reads.

The coalition noted that the President’s son is not from Borno State and has nothing to benefit directly from such philanthropic gestures but he left his litany of businesses to answer to the call of service to humanity.
The statement pointed out that other states and organizations have also benefited immensely from his philanthropic gestures, insisting that such a show of love is rare nowadays.
“Mr Seyi Tinubu has affected so many lives positively both here in Nigeria and outside the country and he is not making any noise about it, unlike some politicians who publish any little thing done for their fellow human beings,” the CONYL’s President-General added.
Continuing, the coalition declared that Lagos State needs a Governor who is accessible, humble, humane, detribalised, energetic, resourceful, listens to advice and opinions of others, and is a problem solver, maintaining that all these qualities and more are embedded in Seyi Tinubu.
According to CONYL, Lagos as the nation’s financial capital and commercial hub currently needs a man who will take it to the next level where the world is, in terms of ICT, economic advancement and technology, adding that Seyi has the requisite experience and knowledge to achieve such feats.
“Seyi Tinubu has proven to be a team player and now is the opportunity we are asking, for him to be given that opportunity to prove himself as a man who is capable to deliver,” CONYL further said.
CONYL observed that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow, adding that they want the future now through Seyi Tinubu as Executive Governor of Lagos State come 2027.
