Integrity is the practice of honesty, showing consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. This moral value gives one the ability to do what is right in spite of all odds and whether anyone is watching or not. As an individual, integrity has helped me in character formation. I have learnt from the likes of Nelson Mandela of South Africa and Chief Obafemi Awolowo whose integrity speaks of them till date.

Every day, one listens to the news of political leaders who are highly respected but unfortunately are found guilty of one offense or the other, especially corruption. The question that comes to mind is “What happens to this person’s integrity or where is this person’s conscience?” The likes of the former finance minister, Dr Okonjo Iweala, cannot be forgotten in the history of Nigeria because of her integrity both at home and abroad. This woman defines integrity – being loyal and honest anywhere one finds oneself.

Integrity is the quality of being honest and morally upright. This moral value has both advantages and disadvantages. A person of integrity would never bring shame to himself rather, he commands respect, attracts good and great people to him.

The common attributes of a man of integrity are: transparency, loyalty, trustworthiness, honesty, etc. Integrity commands respect, love, kindness and brings fame. I have seen integrity open doors for people. So, it is a valuable virtue one must strive to have and maintain in life.

Iyanuoluwa Olajide

Integrity is when an individual is not compromising the right standard. This virtue should be exhibited by all in the society- at home, school, workplaces, market, church, etc. because it would reduce evil practices such as corruption at all levels in the society. Hence, we would have a safer society.

The quality of being honest and morally right is referred to as integrity. It is a value that should be practiced always, no matter what. It is unfortunate that these days, most people do not have integrity and as a result, they have lost the trust they had gained from others.

Esther Daniel

In defining integrity, I would say, “A good name is better than silver and gold.” Therefore, integrity is having and maintaining a good name and character in a position occupied or at any opportunity when one could take advantage to do otherwise. One major benefit of having integrity is that one would earn honour and become a role model to people. Everybody is expected to have this good value.
