In an effort to strengthen collaboration and partnership between Bauchi State Government and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bauchi State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, in Abuja.
A press statement from the Bauchi State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management contained that, in her remarks at the Minister’s office, Hajara Wanka informed that, the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration, between the Bauchi State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and its mother Federal Ministry, with a view to addressing humanitarian challenges that is peculiar to Bauchi State.
Hajara Yakubu Wanka particularly informed the Ministry about the recurring floods disasters that displaces families, cause loss of lives, and disruption of livelihoods.
While appreciating the effort of the Federal Ministry in addressing some of the humanitarian needs during disasters, Commissioner Wanka enumerated Governor Bala Mohammed’s proactive measures in managing humanitarian issues, using community based approach to reach all affected areas of the State though her Ministry.

Hajiya Wanka then appealed for more enhanced coordination and collective action to mitigate the impact of disasters in Bauchi State and the Nation at large.
Responding, the Minister commended Bauchi State’s leadership for its foresight creating the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs to coordinate all humanitarian endeavours of the State Government.
The Minister then assured the Federal Ministry’s commitment to supporting the State’s initiatives and foster partnerships that would promote resilience and poverty alleviation.
The Minister pointed out that the visit provided a platform to align State priorities with Federal Government’s strategies, paving the way for impactful collaboration to improve the lives of vulnerable populations in Bauchi State and beyond.
