National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) has organised a three-day training programme for residents of Adamawa Central Senatorial District to enhance innovation in Agricultural Biotechnology for Food Production.

The Director General National Board of NBTI, Dr. Patricia Chukwu, while speaking at the training, said the aim is to enhance food security and sufficiency in order to promote good health and create employment for our teaming youth through improved seedlings.

Dr Chukwu who was represented by the Center Manager, Alhaji Umar Babayi, further noted that the training program which took place recently, was carefully selected in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to turn around the economy and make life comfortable for Nigerians.

“The theme for the programme is Collaboration Innovation in Agricultural Biotechnology for Food Production in the Adamawa Central Senatorial District”.

“The training is organized in collaboration with Makplan Global Investment Limited and Galaxy Global Crystal Nigeria Limited and facilitated by Senator. representing Adamawa Central District, Sen. Aminu Abbas”.

“The topics are as follows; Introduction to Agricultural Biotechnology; Brief History of Biotechnology; Application of Biotechnology in Agriculture; Benefits and Risks of Agricultural Biotechnology; Technology Skills Transfer on Innovation Technologies for Evaluation and Preservation of Agro Produce to Enhance Food Safety in Adamawa Central Senatorial District”.

The Director General reiterated that NBTI is a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Innovation Science and Technology saddled with the responsibility of establishing, managing the operations of Technology Incubation Centres and Parks, adding that they ensure the commercialization of research and development results from research establishments and related innovation efforts in line with the objectives of the Technology incubation Programme.

“The Centres are established across the 36 states of the federation and with some extensions. Technology Incubation Programme intends to raise enterprises by commercializing and upgrading of local technology which will in turn create jobs and alleviate poverty in the country”.

“I wish to congratulate all the participants for making it to the list of facilitator’s empowerment programmes and encourage you to listen attentively and put into practice what you will learn from this important and timely training.”

Earlier the facilitator and Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation, Senator Aminu Abass, urged the participants to make good use of the opportunity.

The Lawmaker assured them of his support and more projects in the district.

Senator Abass who was represented by Ms Luri Zaphania, also urged the participants to concentrate and learn from the training in order to be self-reliant.
