The Editor of Saturday Tribune, Dr. Lasisi Olagunju, will deliver a public lecture on Friday, December 13, as part of this year’s Akoraye Day celebration in Modakeke. The community will also launch a N1 billion development fund aimed at advancing the town.
Dr. Adesoji Obayomi, Chairman of the 2024 Akoraye Day Celebration Planning Committee, made this announcement during a press conference held in Modakeke on Friday.
According to him, Dr. Olagunju will speak on the topic: “Unity of Purpose as a Panacea for Building a Strong and Sustainable Community.” The lecture is expected to provide actionable insights for fostering progress and harmony within the community.
He emphasized, “On Friday, December 13, 2024, between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, a public lecture will take place at Modakeke Town Hall, organized by Modakeke Development Partners. The topic underscores the essence of our gathering—a call to solidarity, resilience, and collective action.

The discussion, to be led by the renowned columnist and editor with the Nigerian Tribune, Dr. Lasisi Olagunju, will provide practical strategies for driving progress and fostering unity in our community,” the statement noted.
Other programs lined up for the event include a Walk to Live exercise aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle, fitness, unity, and well-being. This will take place on Wednesday, December 11, at 7:00 AM.
On Thursday, December 12, academic scholarships will be awarded to deserving students, and honours will be conferred on illustrious sons and daughters of the community who have made outstanding contributions, he added.
Dr. Obayomi further noted that, “The grand finale of this year’s Akoraye Day celebration will hold on Saturday, December 14, at the Modakeke Civic Centre, where a N1 billion development fund will be officially launched.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Peter Olawuni, National President of the Modakeke Progressive Union (MPU), and Dr. Wasiu Akinbode, MPU National Assistant Secretary, joined the Chairman of the 2024 Akoraye Day Celebration Planning Committee, Dr. Adesoji Obayomi, during the program.
