The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held the second edition of its annual Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons to celebrate the essence of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Christmas carol, themed “The Christ in You, Hope of Glory,” was held on Sunday at the party’s secretariat in Lagos.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the party, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, charged Lagosians and Nigerians to love one another and live in peace and harmony.

According to him, Christmas is not just about celebration but also an opportunity to renew our relationship with God, family, and friends.

He called on Nigerians and Lagosians to support the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu and the THEMES agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, respectively.

He added, “Christmas is another season to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbours as ourselves.

This teaches us that there is peace and unity in dwelling together. Christmas is not all about celebration. It is an opportunity to make amends and renew our relationships with God, family, friends, and neighbours.

We must love honestly and unconditionally so that we can live in peace. As we move into the New Year, let us love ourselves, our neighbours, and our country.

Let us support President Tinubu in his efforts to make the country better for all of us. Let us also cooperate with our governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the achievement of the THEMES agenda.

In the spirit of Christmas, show mercy and love to fellow citizens. I pray that this Christmas will not be our last in the land of the living.”

In his goodwill message, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju Layode, charged Lagosians to be optimistic and committed to the growth and development of the state.

He urged Lagosians to set aside their differences and embrace the peace and unity that bind them.

He said, “It is an honour to join the chairman, executive, and members of the party at this year’s Christmas carol. We have every reason to be thankful for what God has used our party to achieve at the centre, state, and local government levels.

As we come together in unity and love during this festive season, let us remind ourselves to surround ourselves with the theme of endless thanksgiving. It could not have been by human power but by the grace of God.

The journey of the APC has been one of resilience, and we should also remember the values that bind us. Let us approach the coming year with optimism and commitment to growth.

As we express our endless thanksgiving, let us continue to work for the growth of our state and nation. We are in the season of thanksgiving and praise. I would like you to join me in praising the Most High God.”

The event was attended by political bigwigs, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was ably represented, former deputy governors, the wife of the Lagos deputy governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, the wife of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mrs. Salamotu Gbajabiamila, members of the State Cabinet, party executives, Lagos State House of Assembly members, LGA and LCDA chairmen, traders’ associations, and religious and ethnic groups.
