Oyo governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Minister of Tourism, Mrs Lola Ade-John, and members of the Organised Private Sector, (OPS) are billed to attend the maiden edition of the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival which is scheduled to commence on Thursday.
This as the organizers of the event assured the participants at home and in diaspora of adequate security.
The Chairman of the Organising Planning Committee, Prince Williams Adeleye in an exclusive chat with our correspondent in Ogbomoso disclosed that the event is being organized to attract local and foreign investors not only to Ogbomosoland but the entire state as a whole.
According to him, “We have done a lot of work to make it one of the best carnivals organized especially in the Southwestern part of the Country.
“The carnival is rich in content. Some of the things that we have put together are some of the things that people will live to remember because we will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Ogbomosoland. Ogbomoso has a rich history of culture and tradition.
However, it is sad to note that some of these rich cultures and traditions, prior to this time are almost going into extinction.
“Based on my interactions with other traditional rulers, there had been several attempts to organize a carnival like this but not until the present monarch, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye came with his 25 years developmental plan that it come to fruition.
“The monarch didn’t lose sight that culture and tradition is the new Oil and Gas that the nation can thrive on.
“If you want to develop the city economically, I think showcasing the cultural heritage is the best way to go as it will attract investment into the community.
On the security arrangement, the chairman said necessary security arrangements have been put in place to ensure protection of lives and property.
According to him, We have mobilised all the security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property during and after the event.
