The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a limited recall of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips due to the presence of an undeclared allergen.
According to a statement released by Frito-Lay and published on the FDA’s website, the recall affects certain 13-ounce bags of the popular snack. The affected bags may contain undeclared milk, posing a risk to individuals with milk allergies.
Frito-Lay confirmed that 6,344 bags are impacted and were distributed to select retail stores and online distributors in Oregon and Washington.

Consumers who purchased these chips from November 3, 2024, onwards are advised to check for a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of “11 FEB 2025” and a manufacturing code of 6462307xx or 6463307xx.
The company urged consumers with milk allergies to discard affected bags immediately to avoid severe or life-threatening reactions.
The undeclared milk was discovered after a consumer contact prompted an investigation, Frito-Lay said, adding that no allergic reactions had been reported so far. Other Lay’s products, flavours, sizes, and variety packs are not included in the recall.
Food recalls due to undeclared milk allergens are not uncommon. However, in March, a Pennsylvania-based company recalled over 1,600 chocolate bars following a similar oversight.
