A brother and Kingsman to late Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, Hon Patrick Ubajaka has declared his Senatorial ambition for Anambra South Senatorial District to replace the late Senator at the National Assembly (Senate) Abuja.

Ubajaka, who disclosed his ambition while briefing Journalists in Awka on Thursday, said only a close relative of the late Senator should be allowed to complete his tenure at the Red Chamber.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that there has been jostling among politicians from the area over who will replace Ubah as senator of Anambra South Senatorial Zone since after he was buried a month ago.

According to him, Ubah hails from Otolo community in Nnewi North Local Government Area like himself and should be considered for the completion of the tenure, besides the fact that he is eminently qualified for the position.

He said: “I’m eminently qualified to vie for this position by whatever standard, but what I’m saying is that the people of Nnewi North should be allowed to complete the tenure of their brother, and if you come to Nnewi, I’m the closest to him.

“I and the late Ifeanyi Ubah vote in the same polling unit, and his brother is also marrying my sister. That is to show you how close we are.

“I am a founding member of the State ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA and am contesting the bye-election to replace my brother under the APGA platform. I am contesting to complete the good work he has started before he passed away. If elected, I will ensure that his hard-earned legacies are sustained.

“If it was in a developed world, there wouldn’t even be an election; his wife, brother, or other close relative would be nominated to replace him, depending on which of them is interested. Even here in Anambra, it has been done, so I don’t know why they should not allow us to complete the tenure of our late brother?”

Speaking of his programmes for the people of the district, Ubajaka said he is coming to the contest prepared, and has lined up several programmes that will change the lives of the people of Anambra South Senatorial District.

He listed out some of them including facilitation and provision of basic amenities, quality representation through sponsorship of impactful bills, grassroots sports development, and above all, running an open door policy.

“I will be a voice you will be proud of on the floor of the Senate. As a businessman with decades of experience in transportation, distribution, retail sales, and construction, I will facilitate and sponsor bills that will positively impact our business communities.

Ubajaka, while appealing to APGA leadership to consider him fly the party ticket, assures the people in the zone that his legislative agenda will be in line with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s vision of making Anambra a peaceful, secure, livable, and prosperous state in Nigeria.
