Nigeria’s multi-talented music producer-turned-singer, Young John, has voiced his frustration over being excluded from discussions about leading Nigerian music stars dominating the African continent.

Also known the Wicked Producer, he was responsible for numerous hits for Olamide and other top artistes over the years but has now transitioned to singing to showcase his own vocal talent and creative prowess.

In his revelation, the gifted artiste lamented how his contributions to the music industry seem overshadowed by his origins as a producer.

Speaking passionately, he said, “I see how you all leave me out of conversations prolly cos I started out as a producer. Continue! Time will tell!”

Young John’s journey into the spotlight as a singer has not been without its challenges. After years of shaping the sounds behind chart-topping songs, he decided to pivot into singing, believing his voice and talent deserved equal recognition.

The producer-turned-singer, rumored to be in a relationship with Davido’s cousin, has steadily released music that showcases his versatility and knack for creating hits.

However, his recent comments suggest that he feels sidelined in the narrative of Nigeria’s music dominance.

“I realised I’m being left out of the conversation because I started out as a producer,” he said. “But time will tell who the biggest artiste is.”

Despite these feelings, Young John said he remained optimistic about his future in the music industry. Fans have rallied around him on social media, with many praising his transition and urging him to stay focused on his craft.

“You’ve already proven your worth, Young John,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Keep making hits, and the world will catch up!”

Another fan added, “Producers like Young John are the backbone of the industry. His transition to singing just shows how versatile and talented he is.”

He noted that nonetheless, his confidence in his talent and commitment to his craft should remind people that he is ready to break through these perceptions and carve his own path as one of Nigeria’s top music stars.
