The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has assured Nigerians that the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are designed to place the nation on the path to enduring prosperity.

He emphasized that all the president’s reform programmes have been carefully conceived, articulated, and formulated in the best interest of all Nigerians, regardless of their backgrounds.

He gave this assurance over the weekend during a brief interactive session with journalists shortly after inaugurating several projects executed in collaboration with Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar (Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers), and other prominent individuals in Malagi, his community in Gbako Local Government Area of the state.

Among the projects executed by the minister in Malagi are a 500-capacity Juma’at mosque, an Islamiyya school to complement the mosque, a giant overhead water tank powered by a borehole for the community, the remodeling of a community primary school (upgraded to a secondary school by the state governor), and the electrification of the community, connecting it to the national grid.

The minister listed the projects as including an Islamiyya school, a new 500-capacity Juma’at central mosque, rural electrification, water projects, and the inspection of the remodeled primary school, which is now a secondary school following the state governor’s intervention.

Alhaji Mohammed Idris said, “The progressive train of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not leave anybody behind, and we implore all Nigerians to support Mr. President.

Of course, we know that times are a bit challenging, but nowhere in the world are reforms easy or cheap.

Reforms are very difficult for those formulating them and also for those enduring them. But we know that, ultimately, they will take us to the desired happy landing.”

The minister expressed optimism that Nigeria will soon experience significant economic improvements, stating, “We are already beginning to see signs of progress, as the economy is poised to turn around.”

He urged Nigerians to give President Tinubu a chance to prove his good intentions for all citizens.

“And by this time next year (2025), it will be a year of consolidation for the gains of all the economic reforms that Mr. President has instituted. By 2025, we will see them fully manifest,” he declared.

Responding to a complaint from one of the traditional rulers about a lack of federal appointments for his people, the minister highlighted his efforts in facilitating appointments, including the appointment of Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, a Nigerlite, as the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), among others.

He further revealed that he has facilitated over 30 federal appointments for citizens of the state since his tenure began and called for patience among residents of the state.

Idris noted that the construction of the Islamiyya school and mosque was aimed at fostering proper Islamic religious education, particularly for children in his community and its environs, to promote peace and unity among local communities.

He acknowledged the community’s high expectations of him, stating, “To whom much is given, much is also expected,” but pleaded for understanding, as projects would be executed one step at a time.
